W.A.L.T make a metre ruler

Today in the 35 fireflies we were learning to make metre rulers with our talking partners. We used a photocopy of a metre ruler, but as we cut, pasted and stapled we realised that our hand made rulers were not accurate. This sparked a discussion about what does accurate mean and also why do we have to be accurate.
It was fantastic, we had a great discussion about the meaning of accurate. Sam said, "It means to be smack bang in the middle". James said, "It means to be exactly right". Then we talked about 'why' and Olly said, "It wouldn't be fair" and a group of others talked about if our measurement is wrong we won't get it right.
35 fireflies you are amazing thinkers!!
